Yamane Intrascleral Haptic Fixation Technique From An Anterior Segment Surgeon’s Perspective

This post will present the Yamane Intrascleral Haptic Fixation Technique From An Anterior Segment Surgeon’s Perspective.

A 78-year-old male, aphakic patient had previously undergone intraocular lens (IOL) explantation at another hospital due to IOL subluxation. The patient’s current corneal endothelium count was measured as 1040 using a specular microscope. Despite being an anterior segment surgeon, the operating surgeon preferred to place a trocar through a sclerotomy for infusion instead of an anterior chamber maintainer due to the patient’s low endothelial cell count. Moreover, the main incision was planned in the temporal region to ensure it was as distant from the central cornea as possible, with side entries opened on both sides of the main incision. There is no postoperative decentration or tilted appearance in the IOL. Also, the postoperative refractive error is quite satisfactory.

Postoperative anterior segment photography and auto refractometer result.
