This post presents the Temporal Inverted Internal Limiting Membrane Flap Technique For A Large Macular Hole.
This is A 68-year-old Male patient whose left vision has decreased for the last 3 months. She has a mild cataract and a macular hole in the right eye.
OCT revealed a large macular hole, approximately 600 microns in width, and posterior hyaloid–optic disc attachment. Various techniques have been described recently for large macular holes. In this case, the surgeon decided to perform the Temporal Inverted Internal Limiting Membrane Flap Technique. Six months after surgery, the hole had completely closed, the ELM was completely restored, and there was still a small ellipsoid zone distortion. The patient’s visual acuity had improved to 20/25.
Equipment and materials used in the surgery:
- Eibos 2 imaging system: XL lens for core vitrectomy and 90 D lens for ILM peeling
- Alcon Constellation vitrectomy device
