This post presents Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Repair without the Use of Perfluorocarbon Liquids.
This is a 69-year-old man who had experienced vision loss in his right eye for 8 days. He also had a cataract and amblyopia in the right eye. The axial length of this eye was 31 millimeters. Fundus examination of the right eye revealed a macula-off superior temporal rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.
The surgeon performed a combined vitrectomy with cataract surgery in this case. The video shows you the part after the cataract surgery.
Equipment and materials used in the surgery:
- Eibos 2 imaging system: XL lens for core vitrectomy
- Alcon Constellation vitrectomy device
- Alcon Illuminated Flexible Curved Laser Probe
- 14% CF8 gas
After 8 weeks, the retina was completely reattached, and BCVA was 20/60 due to amblyopia.
